I love the ocean!

It's my week to post a card on the Craft-Dee BowZ challenge blog. As you know, there are 4 of us on the Team and we each have our own Tuesday to post. Our sponsor this month is Cute As A Button and I've used the image named Mermaid Sophia on my card. The challenge for all of you this month is ANYTHING GOES AND INCLUDE A HAND MADE BOW. This card isn't traditional, so please look at the photos below to see how it folds. This card is larger than my usual card, and is almost 8" x 8". The Team's challenge this month was to use a mermaid and the colors teal and/or tan. I was able to incorporate both of those colors in my card.

My seahorse, jelly fish and seaweed are dies by Magnolia. Here's the side view to show you how I made this.

This image was awesome to color using my Copics and I used chalk to do the background.

I used two different colored organza ribbon for my bow and the seashell on top of the knot is a button with the shank cut off. My Craft-Dee BowZ bow tool was a lifesaver for this bow. I was able to make this perfect bow since I didn't have to hold the ribbon in my hands. My bow tool is always close by and I use it on every bow. If you own a bow tool, do you use it?  And if you don't own one, but make bows, what are you waiting for? This is the most economical tool you'll ever own and it won't ever wear out, need new blades or sharpening, it doesn't need electricity, and is simple to use.

Our sponsor is Cute As A Button, whose owner is the talented Francesca. Thank you Francesca, for giving me this beautiful mermaid image to use for my Design Team card this month.

Cute As A Button is offering
2 digital images of the winner's choice!

I hope you'll look at Barbara's, Vicki's and Tracey's creations for the month of July and all you need to do is scroll down on the Craft-Dee BowZ challenge blog to see them. With our Team, it won't take but a few moments to look at each of our creations. We hope you'll join us for our July challenge of ANYTHING GOES AND INCLUDE A HAND MADE BOW.

                                                                                  Hugs,
                                                     Gail

Shell Mermaid easel card

Hi
It is Tracey here with my inspiration post for July .This month  The Design Team had to create a project using  the theme of mermaids and use the colours teal and or tan..
This month our wonderful sponsor is Cute As A Button and I have used their  gorgeous shell mermaid digital  image which can be found HERE
I coloured the image with promarkers and used a crafters companion clear glitter overlay pen to give her tail some sparkle. I made the round easel shaped card using grande scalloped circle dies and kraft card. The die I used to create the swirls on the base is a die from sue Wilson from the Gemini range. The anchor and flourishes are  made using a memory box dies The tags are pre made from prima. The stunning flowers are handmade using the same papers I used on the project and a stamp and die set called crafty cocktail flowers and they are from joycrafts.
The stunning 4 looped  bow was created with 2 different colours of organza ribbon and created  using my Craft-deebowz bow maker ...It gives me perfect bows every time and is so easy to use

I found this lovely mermaid verse on pinterest and printed  it on my computer

I hope you like my project and that it inspires you to join in the challenge for July where anything goes with a handmade bow
Happy crafting
Tracey x

"Paradise Found"

Vicki here sharing my July "Mermaid" inspiration!

This month, the Design Team is creating with the lovely colors of teal, light blue and tan along with a mermaid theme.

Mermaids are mysterious, legendary sea creatures that appear in folklore.   There have supposedly been sightings of real ones, but I have yet to see any documented proof or photos.  The ones that come to mind for me are Darryl Hannah in the movie "Splash" and Ariel from the Disney movie, "The Little Mermaid".

The colors of teal and tan are perfect with this theme.  I found two awesome clip art images...one, of clam shells and another, of a mermaid sitting on a rock that I used for my inspiration...

"Paradise found"

I added some brightness and contrast to my images then printed them on matte photo paper.  The mermaid is framed with a white die cut oval.  I cut an oval from the clam shell background and placed the framed mermaid inside this oval.  The background is matted with gold metallic on a white cardstock base.  The circular wreath is die cut and covered with dry glitter.  I used a branch die cut to make the coral that I placed around the frame.  The flower is a pale yellow and colored with inks and a glitter pen.  I had the "Paradise found" tag in my stash from an older paper collection.  It seemed very appropriate for this serene scene.

This lovely sheer bow was created using my Craft-Dee BowZ Tool.  It really helps make bows easily.  I topped off the bow with a star fish embellishment.  Lastly, I added turquoise dew drops as water droplets.
